Jenny David, a partner in the firm, focuses her practice on family law litigation. Jenny is known as a tenacious advocate for her clients. She has litigated visitation, grandparent and other third party visitation, custody, relocation, child support, and spousal support cases in both the juvenile and domestic relations district courts and the circuit courts and divorce and equitable distribution cases, in the circuit courts. Jenny regularly handles complex issues of family law, including the valuation of closely held businesses.
Although Jenny is fully prepared to and regularly litigates every aspect of any family law case, she is also a skilled drafter of comprehensive property settlement agreements and counsels her clients on the value of reaching settlement through the use of alternative dispute resolution and negotiation by counsel.
Despite her breadth of experience, Jenny’s most significant strength is her ability to relate to her clients and devote personal time and attention to them in circumstances that are, at best, emotional and stressful. Family law clients often need to feel that someone is “on their side,” and Jenny prides herself on being that person for her clients.
Jenny is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Newport News Bar Association, and is admitted to practice in all Virginia state courts.
Jenny was raised in Pearisburg, Virginia. She attended Mary Baldwin College, in Staunton, Virginia, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated in 1994 summa cum laude with distinction. She attended the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served on the William Minor Lile Moot Court Board and received her Juris Doctor in 1997. After completing law school, she worked as a law clerk for the Circuit Court for the City of Newport News and the Court of Appeals of Virginia. Through Jenny’s experience as a law clerk, she gained valuable insight into how family law matters are perceived and handled by the courts. Jenny is married to Josh David, also a partner in the firm, and they have two sons.
Jenny is proud to call Newport News her home and cares deeply about her community. She has served as a member of the Family Law Board of Governors for the Virginia State Bar, a member and an officer of the Board of Trustees for Hampton Roads Academy, a member of the Board of Directors of the Newport News Bar Association, the chair of the Regional Selection Committee for the Jefferson Scholars Foundation at the University of Virginia, a member and President of the Board of Trustees for the United Jewish Community of the Virginia Peninsula, Inc., a member and the chair of the Campaign Council for the United Jewish Community of the Virginia Peninsula, Inc., a member of the Jewish Federations of North America National Young Leadership Cabinet, a member of the Board of Directors for Rodef Sholom Temple, and a member of the Board of the Friends of the Library for The Mariners’ Museum. Jenny was a recipient of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities’ Humanitarian Award in 2021.
